Past Student Goes International

Past St Columban’s College student, Rachel Dowse is about to embark on an overseas dancing tour which will see her showcasing her talent in every major city across America.

And Rachel credits her success to St Columban’s College and the teachers that worked with her through the high school years to encourage and nurture her talents.

I am a past graduate of St. Columban’s College Class of 2012. I am writing to inform that in 8 days time I will be traveling to America for a 13 month contract, working as a dancer for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. I am one of the 13 Australian dancers who were chosen out of 300 plus who auditioned. I will be based in Tampa, Florida for a month for the rehearsal process and tour every major city in America for a year living on the Ringling Bros. Circus TRAIN (the largest corporately owned train in the world!) I’m so excited and cannot wait to start my adventure!

I just wanted to pass on a message of thanks to all of the teachers who mentored me throughout my time at St. Columban’s. I learnt so many valuable lessons from them all – lessons which I have benefited from immensely in the real world. On a wider scale, I just want to thank the College itself for all of the opportunity it provided to me – performing on assembly, the school musicals, dance troupe etc. My passion and love for dance and the performing arts was supported and again, I thank you.

I hope to visit the college sometime this week to farewell my PC teacher Mr. Mountney for his retirement and I also hope to see some of my other past teachers.

Again, thank you so much for everything St. Columban’s!

Rachel Dowse
