In the morning, two keynote speakers spoke to the students about different areas of engineering.
The first keynote speaker, Eva from Seymour White Construction talked about her role as a design engineer on the CR2SM project and the diverging diamond interchange being constructed.
The second keynote speaker, Cody, who writes algorithms for the Phantom Project group (part of Boeing) enthused the group about being an engineer and the many possibilities within it.
Two workshops were held, one where students had to construct a bionic hand with tendons and joints to move polystyrene balls from one bowl to another. The second workshop had students creating an electrical circuit using kits, projects ranged from a cityscape with lights to a twirling flower.
In the afternoon, students had the opportunity to visit the major Bruce Highway works at the Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway project.
Climbing up to the new bridge at the Sunshine Motorway junction, they had a fantastic view of the works below, learning about all the different roles that come together to complete a major project.
