A St Columban’s College, Caboolture Year Seven student is set to perform on stage at the Redcliffe Musical Theatre this weekend.
Oscar Hawkins will perform in Charlotte’s Web – a production presented by the Redcliffe Musical Theatre Inc. Shows will start Friday, 16 February 2018 from 7pm till the last show on Sunday, 18 February at 6pm.
The production is the first youth play for the Redcliffe Music Theatre whereby all elements are undertaken by young people, including the directing, producing, and performing roles.
Charlotte’s Web is a children’s story that tells the tale of a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte. The runt of the litter, Wilbur is rescued by the farmer’s daughter, Fern.
Oscar will play the role of Fern’s older brother, Avery Arable and expressed his excitement at performing.
“I am really excited about the show, and the whole cast has been rehearsing since just after Christmas,” Oscar said.
“I play Avery, Fern’s older brother, and although he can be a bit naughty he is really good at heart.
“I’m really looking forward to opening night this weekend.”
In 2017, Oscar attended a play at St Columban’s College and said he was impressed with the production and subsequently the elite Performing Arts Program offered by the college.
He also said, he has enjoyed his first few weeks at the college and has felt welcomed by staff and students alike.
Along with being interested in acting and all things stage-related, Oscar has also signed up to the college song-writing club.
